It's unusual to find a room for under £100 in the heart of the West End (though it does bounce as high as £200+ at popular times), which begs the question: what's the trade-off?

Well, the guest rooms are almost comically tiny—downright cramped. However, they are stylishly modern, with frosted glass doors and walls on the bathrooms to help open up the visual space.

It also comes with free WiFi and satellite TV channels, and the location is hard to beat.

The Z Hostels are designed for "Urbanites," folks whose priority is to be in the heart of the action of the city and all they really want from their hotel is a comfortable bed in which to sleep.

The hotel lies on a side street just northwest of the busy intersection of Charing Cross Road and Shaftesbury Ave., perfectly sited at the crux of the West End's three main neighborhoods: Soho, Covent Garden, and Piccadilly/Leicester Square.

You can take breakfast in the little courtyard, or the street-front Z Café.
