A 17C coaching inn converted into a chain hotel

This 17C coaching inn between Merton and Magdalen Colleges in the heart of Oxford has been converted into a hotel in the Mercure chain.

Guest rooms are extremely comfortable, if a bit smallish—though, sadly, none of the building's history is really apparent, as everything inside is modern.

Some of the larger "Privilege Rooms" enjoy views of Magdalen Tower and the Ruskin School.

Note that there is no elevator.

I'd skip the overpriced breakfast.

Book it
