From July through mid-September, you can stay in the student housing of the University of Bath the historic center, just a few blocks from all the sights and at rates starting around £54.

They are all just your basic modern dorm rooms—and they look like it, with well-worn functional furnishings that come with bedding and towels.

However, they do offer a wide variety of accommodations from singles and doubles to one–, two–, three–, four–, five–, and six-bedroom flats, plus standard apartments sleeping from three up to six.

Some are "en suite" (meaning they have a private bathroom attached), others share a bath on the hall in true college dorm style.

The WiFi is free, and you have access to the communal kitchen (be sure to ask for a kitchen pack, which includes utensils, pots, and pans).

The front desk can also offer boxed breakfast and a hot drinks machine, but you'd be better served just going to a local cafe.
