A staunchly traditional British restaurant

The oldest restaurant in London (est. 1798) offers a supremely clubby, 19th-century setting in which you can enjoy some of the most staunchly British food in town, beloved of everyone from Charles Dickens to Graham Greene.

The restaurant runs its own game estate in the High Pennines of the north country, so you can't go wrong with the venison or wild fowl, or try the sea trout, mussels, or a delicious pie—just make sure you cap the meal off with one of Rules' famous puddings.

This truly is a special place, well worth a splurge.
